This was the first commercial I ever made. While it’s not perfect, it clearly represents my approach to storytelling that supports a brand and sells a product.
Concept & Story
The idea was to present Batu Kombucha as the perfect drink to bring along on epic outdoor adventures. By placing the product in a natural, adventurous environment, the story reinforces the brand’s identity while keeping the product integrated into the narrative.

Background
This project was created as a school assignment with zero budget. We filmed entirely with the gear we had available and shot on a remote outdoor location. The goal was to align with Batu Kombucha’s brand image by emphasizing adventure, nature, and an active outdoor lifestyle.
Challenges & Learnings
The biggest challenge was the weather, which shifted between rain and sunshine every 15 minutes. Because the commercial needed to feel bright and energetic, this required constant adaptation on set. Another challenge was transporting and climbing with gear, as the location was difficult to access from the parking area.
Through this project, I learned a lot about outdoor preproduction, logistics, and adapting quickly to changing conditions.
My role
I handled the full creative and technical process, including concept development, storyboarding, camera work, and editing. Because this was a zero-budget school project, many decisions were made with limited resources in mind.
Looking back, if I were to remake this commercial today, I would bring light-blocking flags to gain more control over natural light and use a proper boom microphone to improve the quality of recorded foley.
